Cathy Hayward, Magenta’s MD, is to speak at the Women in FM (WIFM) event in London on the subject of raising the profile of women in the FM media.
A significant proportion of the BIFM membership, and the FM industry, is made up of women. However, the FM press does not reflect this, and women are largely under-represented. The WIFM event will explore why this is and offer practical steps people can take to change this.
Cathy launched and edited FM World magazine for seven years before setting up Magenta, the communications consultancy for the built environment. She also edited FMJ magazine for more than a year.
“I’m delighted to be presenting at the WIFM event in London,” Cathy said. “I’ll be looking at how women in FM and wider industries, and their male counterparts, can take practical steps to become better represented in the FM media.” Her talk links to a recent guide the company produced on how to build your own personal brand. Julie Kortens, chair of the BIFM, will host the event at the Channel 4 office in London. Guests are invited to attend presentations by Cathy and FM World editor Martin Read, and ask questions to a panel of FM press editors, including Simon Iatrou, editor of i-FM, and Charlie Kortens, editor of FMJ. The event will then finish with drinks and a networking reception.
The WIFM event takes place on Wednesday, 3rd February 2016 at the Channel 4 Television office in London, SW1P 2TX. Book your tickets through the BIFM website.
