Summer is here and the events calendar is sizzling. ‘Revenge travel’ is a term that has come up a lot lately, as millions of people book trips abroad for the first time in almost three years. The same might be said for the industry events calendar.
Over the past three months, Magenta has hosted and attended numerous conferences, awards dinners and conferences. Last month, we organised our annual Magenta Springtime Party. This year, we celebrated our 11th birthday on a rooftop bar overlooking the River Thames. Even our Toronto-based colleague Simon Iatrou joined us for the first time since 2019.
Workplace conferences
We’ve found some time for work, too. In June, some of the team attended IFMA World Workplace Europe 22 where the theme was “FM for a sustainable future” – somewhat fitting given the uncertain period we currently find ourselves in. Magenta’s Shahlia Nelson-Rogers summarised the stand-out sessions in her IFMA World Workplace recap.
More recently, Magenta MD Jo Sutherland travelled to Manchester for the British Council for Offices annual conference. Jo saw panellists ask a similar question to the ones asked at IFMA’s event – how do we work together to create a better world of work, play and everything in-between? The overriding feeling was that nobody has the answers. But that’s a good thing. After two years in which a global pandemic made us question everything that we thought we knew, especially about work and workplaces – nobody should.
Property Marketing Award winners
Finally, in late June, the Magenta people put on their glad rags and rocked up to Property Marketing Awards, in Kings Cross, where we won the award for Best Use of PR for our work with workplace technology provider Freespace. Through consistent profile building with key targets in national and business media, we positioned the company as the leading voice for office occupancy data as the return to work began last year.
That’s it for the Magenta summer 2022 update. We’ll be back with another company update in the autumn.
