Lionel Prodgers has won the award for Overall Industry Impact at the BIFM Awards 2011. The non-executive director of Magenta Associates, who is credited as being a pioneer of facilities management, accepted his award from guest judge Michael Portillo at last night’s glittering ceremony in London.
Prodgers, who founded in 1984 what is regarded as the UK’s first specialist facilities management company, Facilities & Property Management plc, now provides international consulting services through his company Agents4RM. He has touched all areas of facilities management, including serving as BIFM chairman, chairman of EuroFM and a board director of IFMA, in a career spanning more than 40 years. He became a non-executive director of Magenta Associates in April 2011.
The BIFM awards are the biggest and most prestigious networking event in the UK’s FM calendar, giving national recognition to the leaders in the FM profession. The award for Overall FM Industry Impact was presented for the first time in 2009 when it went to Stan Mitchell, a former BIFM chairman. Valerie Everitt, the BIFM’s professional standards and education director, won the award in 2010.
