Magenta account director Richard Byatt, is to cycle the London to Brighton this weekend in aid of the British Heart Foundation. Byatt, who has cycled the route several times before, hopes to complete the 54-mile course before nightfall as he has no lights. Although the route is traditionally kept secret until the last minute, it is believed that Byatt will cycle near both Magenta’s London office and its Brighton base, just by the world-famous Palace Pier where Magenta’s Cathy and Marianne will be waiting to picture him crossing the finishing line.
The London to Brighton, which is thought to be Europe’s largest charity cycling event, started in 1976 with just 60 riders but a substantially longer 95-mile route. Almost 30,000 riders will take part this Sunday. The route ends with a punishing ride up Ditchling Beacon which Byatt plans to “attack with gusto and then get off and push the bike up the rest”.
Last year, the event raised £4.1m and Byatt is hoping to raise at least £500. To show your support for this fantastic cause, please sponsor Richard. All supporters who pledge more than £10 will NOT receive a photograph of Richard in cycling gear.
